What is a Precinct Chair?

Precinct Chairs are elected officials of the Democratic Party.  They are the grass roots of the party.

Each county is divided into Precincts for electoral purposes:  the precinct you’re located in determines who your candidates are. The Democratic precinct chair of your precinct, represents you in several ways:

• They vote on your behalf at County meetings (called County Executive Council meetings, or CEC) to approve activities at the County Party (in our case, the Dallas County Democratic Party, or DCDP),

• They build a Democratic community within the precinct,

• They provide you with information about candidates, issues and election rules to help you decide your vote, and

• They do their best to ensure that all Democrats vote in each election.

Park Cities Area Precincts

A group of 17 precinct chairs has organized a working group we call The Park Cities Area.  This area includes Highland Park, University Park, Greenway Parks, Devonshire and Bluffview.  PCA Dems works closely with the Precinct Chairs in this area to provide members with the most robust set of information and opportunities to effect change for the better in our neighborhood, but we also welcome members from any part of Dallas.
