Republicans in disarray?

Do you remember the election on November 4? It seems like so long ago, but its reverberations are still being felt. The big wins by Democrats led to success in voting for the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the resignation of Marjorie Taylor Greene (and, rumored, more to follow), and the renewed focus on Trump’s failed promises on affordability.

Is it the beginning of the end for Trump and MAGA? We’ve read two competing opinions just this morning. The New Republic details the many ways in which Trump is losing support of his base, but Christopher Armitage suggests we’ve gotten our hopes dashed many times before.

Perhaps most hope-inspiring was a point that popped up repeatedly at the recent Texas Tribune Festival (see below for more info): many of our best thinkers are moving into how we recover once we’re back in power. Their thinking is that we can’t just return to the status quo which created the oligarchy, income inequality and with the insufficient guardrails that led us to this moment, and began speaking about a reinvention of government.

A heady thought as we move into the holiday season. Hoping your celebrations are bright and joyful!  If you can, please join us this Wednesday, December 3, at our annual holiday party! (See more on this and sign up below)

What you may have missed this month

PCA Dems at the 2025 Johnson-Jordan Dinner

For those who may not be deeply embedded with Dallas County Democratic politics, the annual JJ Dinner is a huge fundraiser supporting the DCDP. Featuring Boots and Bling at Gilley’s, politicians from across the state - and honorary Texans, as well - came by to address the crowd and celebrate all things Democrat. This year’s keynote speaker was JB Pritzker, the Illinois Governor who stepped up to support our quorum breakers during the Abbot/Trump mid-decade redistricting push. In gratitude, he was presented with a “Pritzker Way” Dallas street sign and his first-ever cowboy hat!

PCA Dems at the Texas Tribune Festival

Who knew rubbing elbows with your favorite candidates and politicos could be so fun? We ran into friends old and new, and heard the latest thoughts from everyone we read on Substack.

Couldn’t make it?  The Tribune has a great compilation of the speeches you missed! Check it out here!

DCDP Virtual sessions - log in from anywhere!

Wednesday, Dec 17; 6:00 - 7:00

On this call, the Dallas County Democratic Party will answer the question: What’s a Precinct Chair and How Do I Get Involved at the Party?! The position of precinct chair is generally the party job closest to the actual action: meeting, motivating, and mobilizing the voters themselves, who happen to be your neighbors and friends!  If you're fired up and looking to step up and really make a difference, this is the perfect opportunity at a crucial political moment.

We can make this Texas a Texas that works for everyone, but we can’t do it without you – we look forward to seeing you on the call!
