When we wrote last month’s newsletter, we felt a sense of optimism that the tide was turning toward a Blue Wave in November. Then, January pelted us with some dark reminders of what happens when you corner a rat. There will be too many crises, distractions and scandals to keep track of, designed to overwhelm us. Our advice: pick a lane or two, keep your head down and keep moving forward.
Thus, our goals for 2026 remain the same.
First - Drive turnout in our area to be too BIG to RIG. Ironically a Trump meme from 2024 (every accusation is a projection, is it not?), we know they will do whatever they are allowed to get away with to rig the election this year. We can support the legal efforts to rein him in (please do!), but the only on-the-ground lever we control is bringing everyone we know to the polls - this March and especially in November!!
Keep reading to see the new primary voter rules!!
Make sure your vote counts!!
Second - How inspiring have the people of Minneapolis been? Can we do that here? Let’s find out. PCA Dems is looking for an organizing partner who can train, supply and safely deploy us if ICE comes to nearby neighborhoods. (Note: we will only engage in this if we are well trained.) Deployments could range from brave (standing in the street with a camera and a whistle) to quietly supportive (bringing groceries to families in hiding).
We’re creating a Quick Action Team which will get first notice of all of these opportunities this year - from ICE response, to election support to letters to the editors! Want to be part of the change? Sign up here!
As we get closer to November, the chaos and even the violence may get worse. We need our community to stay grounded together, pick our battles and make a difference where we can. Keep reading for more ideas.
Making Sure Your Vote Counts!
Republican Rules Changes Have Changed
…Everything
Please vote early in person!!!
If you’re interested in the whys, email us at info@pcadems.com and we’ll talk your ears off. But it’s sufficient to say that the Republicans want us all to believe that elections stink and are poorly managed so they can claim in November that they didn’t really lose.
For now, if you want your vote to count, please pay attention to the following rules changes.
Voters by Mail
The USPS has announced that they’re no longer postmarking items on the day dropped at the post office. Instead, they’re postmarking the items on the day they process the item - which could be a day or even days later. But ballots still need to be postmarked by election day! If you vote by mail, you have a few options to make sure your vote counts.
Drop your ballot at your post office as soon as you receive it.
Walk your ballot into the post office, stand in line and have it postmarked by hand by the postal worker at the desk.
Hand-deliver your ballot to the Dallas County Elections Center at 1520 Round Table Drive, Dallas, TX 25247 (a funky road, but not that far away - near Harry Hines and Regal Row)
Vote in person during early voting. Bring your ID and your mail-in ballot for destruction.
Early Voters In Person
This is the best way to vote this election. You may vote in any vote center in Dallas County (the voting method we’ve been accustomed to). Click here for the early voting location most convenient to you. There will be some changes in the voting centers, but this will feel most normal. Bonus: your vote will be tallied in the first tranche of vote totals released at 7:00 pm on election day!
Election Day Voters
This method will be the biggest chaos day of the primary election. Don’t ask why. Just go with it.
You cannot vote anywhere in the county. You may only vote in your precinct’s voting location. But wait - there’s more!
The election day location for your precinct may not be the location where you’ve voted before. It may not even be the same location as Republicans may vote in.
Due to very complicated rules, the voting locations for each precinct on election day are only now being finalized. In fact, the county has not yet published the list of election day centers!!
If you want to put your name on a list for election day center notification, click here. We will post a link on our website and our Facebook pages when they have confirmed the election day voting locations.
Reminder: this is not the County’s fault. This is totally due to the Republican Party of Dallas County choosing to complicate everything to “ensure the security of the election” (to make us all doubt election security.)
Your safest option is to vote in person during Early Voting!!
