Just because we knew the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade was coming doesn't make it less of a gut wrench. You are allowed to be sad, mad and feel all sorts of feelings about this awful news. What you are not allowed to do is nothing.
In Texas the chilling effect of a possible pre-Roe ban stopped abortions immediately on Friday. Minutes ago, a Harris County judge granted a temporary restraining order restoring abortion services (for up to six weeks of gestation) in some clinics for the next two weeks. Another hearing is scheduled for July 12.
Make no mistake that this is just the beginning of a battle for basic civil rights. Justice Thomas' opinion directly calls out that they will come for same sex relationships, same sex marriages and all forms of family planning.
State offices and state legislators and where these battles will take place. We are exactly where we are because of our current elected officials. We have pro-women, pro-rights candidates running on November 8. We must do everything we can to support them. This is personal.

Dallas County Democrats needs your time and financial support to help elect Democrats all across Dallas County
Abortions have essentially stopped here in Texas and resources are moving toward helping women who need abortion care to receive care - outside Texas. This is obviously more challenging and expensive than providing this type of reproductive care closer to home.
