Board schedules called meeting to discuss pandemic response, including mask orders
The HPISD Board of Trustees has scheduled a called meeting for 6:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 16 to discuss the district’s response to the pandemic, as well as recent orders and litigation regarding mask orders. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held in the Legacy Ballroom of the HPISD Multi-Use Building, 6900 Douglas.
Similar to all school districts in Dallas County, HPISD is currently under an order from County Judge Clay Jenkins that requires masks to be worn indoors at any public school by anyone over the age of 2. There is ongoing litigation between the State of Texas and Dallas County that could change this directive at any time.
Prior to the meeting, members of the public are invited to provide their comments to the Board by accessing this link by 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 16. Please limit your comment to 500 words or less. The comments will be distributed to the trustees and posted online under the Public Comments section of the agenda prior to the start of the meeting.
Individuals who would still like to address the board in person are welcome to sign up to do so prior to the start of the meeting. Please be advised that, given the interest in this topic and potential for a large number of speakers, there is the possibility that the amount of time provided to each speaker may be limited by trustees.
