HOW It WORKS - Dallas County Elections Department will lead the 4 county deputation training sessions listed above. To participate in one of the two sessions listed above, participants will sign up on the MTTP website (www.marchtothepolls.org) and will identify which session they will be attending. MTTP will send the participant a link to the session for which they signed up two days prior to the session. To sign up and become deputized or re-deputized, do the following:
Step 1 - Sign up for a VDR deputation training session:
· Go to MTTP website www.marchtothepolls.org.
· Click “VOTING” at the top of the website page for the dropdown box to appear.
· Click “BECOME A VOLUNTEER DEPUTY REGISTRAR” in the Dropdown box
· An application to attend the virtual session will appear.
· Fill out the application and press “SUBMIT” when it is completed. Do not forget to select the session you want to attend.
· A virtual link to the VDR deputation session will be sent to you two days prior to the session.
Step 2: Attend the VDR Deputation session and qualify to be certified as a 4 County VDR:
· Fifteen minutes before the session, click the link MTTP provided to attend.
· Dallas County Elections Department will electronically take attendance of all Participants in the deputation training session.
· March to the Polls, assisting the Dallas County Elections Department, will mail to each training session attendee the required paperwork the attendee will need to fill out to become a VDR. Fill out, execute, and return both copies of the required paperwork in the self-addressed postage pre-paid envelope provided by MTTP. Only on receipt of the executed paperwork will the attendee become a Dallas County VDR. Once the executed paperwork is received, MTTP, assisting the Dallas County Elections Department, will mail to the attendee a VDR deputation certificate and registration supplies. Therefore, the attendee will not need to go to the Elections Department (as is presently required) to become a VDR. The attendee will never need to leave home. It will all be virtual and by mail.
· Once the executed paperwork has been received, MTTP will take a copy of the executed paperwork to Tarrant, Collin, and Denton Counties (the Counties) as proof that you attended the Dallas County training. MTTP, assisting the Counties, will then mail each county’s paperwork (from the counties to which the attendee asked to become a VDR), to the attendee to fill out, execute and send back by return mail in the self-addressed postage pre-paid envelope provided by MTTP. Once the executed paperwork is received by the county in which the attendee wants to become a VDR, MTTP, or the respective county, will mail to the attendee a VDR deputation certificate and registration supplies. Again, the attendee will not need to go to that county’s Elections Department to become a VDR. The attendee, will never need to leave home to be deputized in the 4 North Texas Counties. It will all be virtual and by mail.
· Most Important – It costs MTTP approximately $15.00 in postage and other costs per attendee seeking VDR status in all 4 counties. Any financial help you can give to offset costs will be greatly appreciated. Please go to www.marchtothepolls.org and click the Red Donate button and make a tax-deductible contribution. But contributions are NOT required for you to participate.
