HPISD Parent Education Committee and Highland Park United Methodist Church (HPUMC) are partnering to bring a powerful, insightful and timely event to the community. Headlining the evening, focused on The Power of Words, is former Dallas Police Chief, David Brown. Join us from 7-8:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18 at HPUMC for a dynamic keynote presentation and a diverse panel of experts.
A proven leader in the midst of turmoil and crisis, Chief David Brown understands the impact of words. Whether intentional or not, our words have power - to hurt, to influence and to lead. How can we be mindful to encourage others, unify people and inspire good? Sharing from painful life experiences and loss to critical command in the national spotlight, Chief Brown will offer leadership learning and a tender heart for people.
Immediately following Chief Brown’s keynote address, he will join a panel of speakers for continued discussion on how we can increase awareness, compassion and inclusivity and become leaders within our city and community. Our panel of experts will include:
Former Dallas Police Chief, David Brown
Educator, Leadership and Learning Digital Coach, Sarah Stonesifer
HPISD Inclusion Task Force leader, Dr. Jaime Callahan
Highland Park High School student and diversity leader, Nrithi Subramanian
Executive Minister, Highland Park United Methodist Church, Reverend Matt Tuggle
This will be a one-of-a-kind event, appropriate for families, students and all community members!
