Tragedy Among the Celebrations
The parade and the fireworks show went on as scheduled, but many of us were too busy mourning. Even those of us who only knew someone who knew someone who lost a child are heartbroken. Our close-knit community is rallying with Camp-Mystic-Green ribbons, prayer services and other memorials in support of the suffering families. We are all Camp Mystic families now.
And then there was a different type of mourning. It seems wrong to equate a political tragedy with such horrific loss, but the truth is that many others will die due to the greed and cruelty of Trump’s reconciliation bill signed on the 4th. Even as we grieve for lost neighbors, we must continue to hold our elected officials accountable for such irresponsibility.
What You Might Have Missed This Month
PCA Dems at No Kings Day!
We had a terrific turnout at the No Kings Day event on June 14! Our sign-making pre-party was awesome - big shout out to The Londoner at Mockingbird Station. Not only did they graciously host our event, but they were big supporters of the sentiment behind it — think about going there for drinks or dinner and tell them we say hello!!
The rally itself (though hot) was so uplifting! Being surrounded by like-minded people, committed to peaceful protest, was inspiring. The next big march is July 17 - for those of you in town, see more information below.
PCA Dems at
Park Cities’ Independence Day Celebration
PCA Dems made our debut at the Park Cities’ Independence Day celebration at Centennial Park in UP. We had a great time, sharing “future voter” wristbands with the kids, and “registered voter” pins with the adults! In addition, we provided voters with information about the upcoming November Texas Constitutional amendment election, contact information for our Federal and State elected officials, and, of course, information about PCA Dems and how to join!
June Meeting
Summer Social with Special Guests
Kathleen Thompson, from Progress Texas,
Kevin Burge and Allison Mitchell, early 2026 candidates for
Congressional District 24, and TX House District 108
We had a terrific meeting in June. Our summer social featured special guests Kathleen Thompson, Kevin Burge and Allison Mitchell. Kathleen spoke to us about how we can speak constructively with our Republican family, friends and neighbors. Kevin and Allison introduced themselves and made their pitches as to why they should win the Democratic Primary next March.
We’re taking a summer break from meetings in July: Our next meeting will be August 21 featuring a kick-off to Texas Primary Season.
PCA Dems Around Town
At the Adam Kinsinger event!
PCA Dems gathered with friends from throughout North Dallas on June 17 to hear Adam Kinsinger and friends speak about a Roadmap to Winning for Democrats - locally and beyond.
At the Bernie Sanders event!
PCA Dems road-tripped to Fort Worth on June 22 to hear Bernie Sanders, Beto O’Rourke, Greg Casar and others speaking at Sanders’ Fight the Oligarchy tour. It was a hugely inspiring event - including a speech by our new TDP Chair, Kendall Scudder about how it’s no longer your grandpa’s State Party!
