You may have heard there is an election coming up! Texas’s primary is in 92 days (as I write this on December 2). Don’t be distracted by the top of the ticket. We get to elect a president every four years, but we’ve been stuck with John Cornyn for 18 Long Years. Texas deserves so much better.
This is the week to learn what you need to know about the Texas Senate race. There is a big democratic field, and a whole host of them are coming to the neighborhood to meet the PCDWA and answer our questions! As always, email membership@pcdwa.org to join and get address information!
This Friday, December 6, at 9 am, we will be hosting three US Senate candidates: Amanda Edwards (Houston), Royce West (Dallas) and Cristina Tzintzun-Ramirez (Austin) will appear. They are coming from out of town to meet with us, and we want to make sure we have a good turnout. This is the only time we'll be able to hear from them before we vote in the March primary. It’s our chance to decide which is the best candidate to defeat current Cornyn. MJ Hegar and Chris Bell are a couple of the other primary candidates, who are not able to attend. All are running at about 8% in the polls, so there's no clear frontrunner.
It is important that we do all we can to defeat Cornyn who appears to be rubber-stamping anything Mitch McConnell desires. Cornyn is #2 in the Senate, poised to take McConnell's place if Amy McGrath prevails in KY.
Please email your questions in advance to info@pcdwa.org
There’s lots of great stuff coming up in January that you can check out on our calendar, but this is our only December event, so be there on Friday!
